A few years ago I was asked if I could write some original songs for a version of 'Alice in Wonderland' and never a one to resist a challenge, I composed a series of 9 character numbers for this classical Lewis Carroll story. I'm pleased to say that they received very good newspaper reviews when performed in the Rowntree Theatre, York by my good friends and supporters - Charlotte Gray & Donna Riley, who are the principals and directors of 'We Are Theatre'.
They were the first (& only) willing to take the risk to produce three of my musicals - Platform Nine - Grace Darling & Broken Doll, all to great media acclaim. In consequence, I have returned the favour by writing music and lyrics for their annual productions of the following classical stories. You can see their work on their website:-
I am now making the following albums available for purchase in PDF format. As all of these classical stories are out of copyright (Except for Peter Pan, you need to contact the Great Ormond Street Hospital, for permission), you can write your own libretto and using these music albums, devise your very own musical without having to pay out large royalty fees which, in these austere times, can prohibit the cost of putting on any kind of community (or school) production. All you need to pay is the cost of the album, but you would have to prepare any additional arrangements.
They are all available for downloading as PDF files in A4 size from:- a westgate
or by clicking on the selected album
All of the songs have been specifically composed for the characters in the story
ALICE was my 1st attempt at writing an original score for this Lewis Carroll's classic story.
6 MP3 recordings of the numbers can be found below.
All of my work is of this standard and well-worth looking at.
